Odysseus is the protagonist of the epic, King of Ithaca, who has been wandering for ten years since the fall of Troy, held captive by the nymph Calypso. The Introduction traces his adventures with the Cicones, Lotus-eaters, Cyclops, Aeolus, Laestrygonians, Circe, the descent to Hades, the Sirens, Scylla, and Thrinacia, and sets up his eventual return home to reclaim his kingdom and wife from the suitors.
